Dining Room Reveal

We’re officially on a roll here with room reveals and next up: the dining room! I struggled to find before photos of this space but it started in a pretty dismal place. We initially ripped up the wine-stained carpet, laid flooring over the original floors, scrubbed the walls, removed the previous curtains and chandelier and spent 2 days scraping wallpaper off an accent wall. The walls were coated with Benjamin Moore ‘American White’ and the space sat dormant for about a year’s time.

With our kitchen renovation wrapped and sitting directly across the hall from this space, I got the itch to kickstart a small project. We wanted to keep expenses minimal so we kept our dining chairs, dining table, bar cart, console table and Anthro mirror from our previous house and managed to make them work in the space.

The first eyecatching difference was changing out the chandelier to this 8-light option from DainoLite. We worked with them on the fixture in our kitchen and as you guys know, I’m a HUGE fan of their collection. This chandelier has three extension rods that can make the same light work great in grand spaces but for the purpose of sitting over a dining room table and in an 8-foot ceiling space, we opted to forego all extension rods. We’re still testing out which lightbulbs we like with the light but it’s such a dreamy and modern touch to the space. And as always, install was a breeze!

Another major change in this space was the wallpaper. Sent from my friends at anewwall, it was love at first sight. Given the bold pattern, we felt one accent wall was sufficient and opted to keep the walls pretty bare elsewhere in the room. There are two material options for this pattern: wallpaper and vinyl. We opted for vinyl as we were worried about warped walls and odd ceiling heights and found the installation to be seamless! The team took the measurements of our walls and sent the design over pre-fabricated to our space. I adore the pops of colour and cannot tell you how many compliments I receive on it during work zoom calls. If you’re looking to spruce up a space or a wall, I highly recommend checking out their designs – I think they are some of the best out there!
