Unplugged Bliss: Our Dreamy Getaway at The Lakehouse at Canandaigua
Picture this: You and your significant other, nestled in a cozy lakeside retreat, away from the chaos of city life. Sounds like a dream, right? I was so stoked to be able share one of my favourite properties with Adam, The Lakehouse at Canandaigua– one of the best upstate New York hotels. I’ve visited twice before with my sister but was excited to visit with Adam in the winter months for a cozy winter getaway. I mean, is there anything more romantic than being cozied up fireside with a cocktail in hand and staring out at a lake? I think not!
A hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Upstate New York’s Finger Lakes region, it’s one of the best luxurious Canandaigua properties I’ve come across. Let me take you on a journey through our unforgettable stay, filled with cozy moments, breathtaking views, and all the #couplegoals vibes you could ever imagine from our stay.
From the get-go, The Lakehouse had us swooning. As we pulled up to the property, we were greeted by the sight of Canandaigua Lake shimmering in the sunlight, twinkling lights along the fences and the charging front entrance that always gets you giddy! Instantly, Adam turned to me and said – “Ok I get it!”
Our suite was straight out of a Pinterest board – think rustic chic meets ultimate comfort. The king-sized bed? Like sleeping on a cloud. The bathroom? The chicest! And don’t even get me started on the private balcony overlooking the lake – talk about romantic AF! Each morning, we’d wake up to the gentle lapping of waves and the soft glow of sunrise, setting the stage for a day of adventure and relaxation. Even better? Doing it with a coffee in hand from your in-room coffee machine.
I love that The Lakehouse has no shortage of activities to keep guests entertained. From morning yoga to wood burning classes and more, there’s truly something for everyone and every mood. We also had a chance to spend some time in their oversized hot tub at night which over looks the lake – the dreamiest!
Of course, no getaway would be complete without some serious eats, and The Lakehouse did not disappoint. We indulged in our favourite, Rose Tavern, over my must-haves: the house rolls, wedge salad, lamb bolognese and the salted caramel budino. Not only does the restaurant have an extensive wine list but their in-house sommelier always keeps us on our toes with new recos that we would have never considered! We enjoyed brunch at the same spot the morning before we left and as per usual, it was a 10/10.
One of our favourite things to do was to grab a pre-dinner cocktail in the Library, pull out a board game and hang fireside. The mixologist on site always has a fresh menu of new offerings and willing to pull a rabbit out of a hat depending on what your cocktail of choice is!
But what truly set The Lakehouse apart was the people. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like old friends, with smiles and genuine hospitality that made us feel right at home. Whether we were chatting with the staff about the best local wineries or sharing stories around the fire pit with fellow guests, there was a sense of camaraderie and connection that made our stay truly special.
As we reluctantly packed our bags and bid farewell to The Lakehouse, we couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sadness. Our time there had been nothing short of magical – a whirlwind of laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. We both agreed that a visit to The Finger Lakes in summer would be a must to enjoy a different season at this amazing waterfront property.
So if you’re craving a getaway that’s equal parts adventure and relaxation, look no further than The Lakehouse at Canandaigua. Trust me, it’s the ultimate escape for millennials in need of some serious R&R – and maybe a few Insta-worthy pics along the way.
