Hamilton Princess Bermuda Review
Picture it now: breeze palm trees, a chilled glass of frose in hand, the most beautiful sunset and the perfect pink backdrop following you wherever you go. This basically describes the picturesque scene I witnessed every night during our recent stay at the Hamilton Princess Bermuda in Hamilton, Bermuda. My sister, Kassandra, and myself recently travelled to the island for the ultimate girls trip and loved every minute of it. This is definitely one of those islands that stole our heart, our camera roll and a constant spot on our list of Places We’ve Loved Visiting.
Getting There
Both Air Canada and Westjet offered non-stop flights from Toronto to the Bermuda airport so getting to and from the island was a breeze. We arranged for a shuttle from the airport to the property which came in handy as it appeared cab drivers were scarce in the area.
The Hotel
The Hamilton Princess Hotel is located in Hamilton, Bermuda and is situated right on the water with an on-site marina. The hotel features two pool areas – an adult and family pool – along with a gym, spa, various restaurants and a slew of other amenities.
We loved watching the boats sail past or even pull up to the property’s dock while relaxing pool side. The proximity to Hamilton was another perk. Anyone who visits Bermuda will tell you that the island is quite expensive. Having the luxury of walking to restaurants, events, marinas and boutiques was a great option.
The hotel itself is just as stunning in person as it appears to be on social media! The pink exterior can be spotted from around the bend when you approach the location. The interiors were pristine and fresh thanks to a recent renovation as well. My sister and I could not get over the collection of art that adorned the walls of the property. From Warhol to Koons, the colour and choice of art was incredible. The decor itself was coastal which with the touches you know and love from a Fairmont property.
The fire pits located throughout the exterior grounds of the property were also a nice touch for the transition to evenings. We loved grabbing a glass of wine and pulling up a chair while we watched the sunset over the marina.
And don’t get me started on the Instagram opportunities at this property. From the ‘Greetings’ wall perfectly positioned for an Instagram photo, to the lush gardens or marina views, we were constantly grabbing our cameras to snap content of the property and our outfits!
The Staff
I feel like I rarely go out of my way to comment on the staff but this group deserve a commendation. Being greeted as ‘Princess’ every time we walked through the front door was just the icing on the cake to an already amazing experience. Whether it was the bar tenders, front desk or cleaning staff, everyone was just the sweetest.
Rooms
One of my favourite features of Fairmont properties are often the rooms. Being a family friendly brand, they’re often large in size and feature a slew of features like a coffee machine, extra hangers, a large closet and more.
We had a walk in closet in our room – great for two girls – with built in shelving for shoes and our bags – score! The oversized bathroom was equipped with Le Labo products – another amazing feature. And you can’t not talk about the view from the bedroom. Pink-hued sunsets to the right and marina to the left, we loved hanging out on the balcony and just people watching early morning or before dinner.
Restaurants
The Hamilton Princess features a slew of dining optons on site such as Crown & Anchor Bar, Marcus, 1609 Bar and Restaurant and the Fairmont Gold Lounge.
We had the opportunity of dining at both the Crown & Anchor Bar as well as Marcus and were thoroughly impressed. Marcus is situated on the water so be sure to grab a table outside at sunset for amazing views. If you go, be sure to get the Jerk Chicken dish! The Fairmont Gold lounge was another hangout spot for us during the trip. With access to breakfast, unlimited coffee and afternoon tea, in an air conditioned spot, you knew where to find us at 2pm!
Beach
While the Hamilton Princess property may not be situated on the beach, they’ve come up with the next best alternative in my opinion – the Hamilton Princess Beach Club. A short, pink, jiffy ride away (about 15 minutes) and you’re transported to the most chic beach club on the island. Whether you’re hanging beach side, in the cabana or chilling in the water hammock – soaking up the sun has never looked so chic.
Since the beach club is situated on a cove, it’s the most peaceful setting and great for those who love to swim or wade into the water. The onsite bar and restaurant has a ton of great offerings and be sure to get an order or two of the frose!
Surrounding Area
As fabulous as the hotel was, we were eager to get out and explore the local area. From local boutiques to restaurants, Hamilton had a slew of options to see and do. We dined at Devil’s Isle which we loved for a casual dinner spot and Mad Hatters, a local pub, which I wouldn’t recommend. Do note that dining out anywhere in Bermuda warrants an automatic 17% gratuity being added to the bill.
