I’ve been holding onto this RW&CO blazer for weeks but the yo yo temps just didn’t quite justify the need for multiple layers and then BOOM – fall hit like a ton of bricks this week. As someone who loves seeing their work wear do double duty in their wardrobe, I am LOVING the Houndstooth blazer trend for fall. This is definitely more of a casual look I’d style it with but Monday to Friday, I’ve been mixing it with my favourite work pants from J. Crew or even t-shirt dresses and chunky heels. 

For this specific outfit, I chose a pair of distressed jeans to pair with the look. Truthfully, hunting down the perfect pair of jeans can be the most daunting task. I often feel like I have a lot of factors working against me: I’m too tall for petites but too short for regular hemmed pants, curves can prove to be difficult to outfit and then there’s the hurdle of whether you want a dark skinny pair or a distressed look for more casual outings. I’ve had my eye on for a while seem to fit the bill for the check list above – I just have to get to my local Nordstrom store to try them on (another hurdle haha!). Are there any brands of jeans that you can always rely on? Or a new to you brand you now love? I’d love to know!

Pastel Pink Power Suit

Today marks the start of the first full work week since vacation. It’s always hard getting back into the groove of things but a Grande Misto and lunch plans always make it easier to get through the day. This pink suit doesn’t hurt either ;) A stretchable linen fabric from RW&CO, I adore the shade and the wide leg pant style. True – this isn’t my uniform on a day to day basis at the office but I do think a chic pantsuit can make for the perfect #OOTN at a cocktail party or work soiree. Think pink for your next event!

I’ll be honest… trying to get creative with outfit ideas this time of year is starting to become a pain point. I’m officially over sweaters but open toed shoes, light jackets and t-shirts just aren’t weather appropriate yet. I feel like I always opt for more neutrals at a time like this (which isn’t a bad thing!) and fall back on great wardrobe basics like – a white tunic, camel coat and classic pumps!

Yes, those are tights you see on my legs. We shot this look in -15 and going bare legged was just not an option on a day like this! Looking chic but keeping warm is just one of those struggles in the winters months that I often have a hard time with. When you’re forced to wear multiple layers, warm boots and thick coats – you feel like showcasing your style can easily be lost. I like to opt for turtlenecks that contrast with my winter jacket and some serious neck bling. Bold sunnies can also help to add some punch to your #ootd!

The chic-est blazer I ever did see! I had been waiting for this blazer to restock in my size for weeks and immediately snatched it once it did. Sadly, it’s completely sold out now so I can’t link to the exact one (boo!) but this is the third blazer I’ve bought from the J. Crew Collection. They’re well built, feature amazing fabric and have a shape that doesn’t seem to go out of style ;) I highly recommend if you’re in the market for  an investment piece!
