Plaid Coat

I scored this coat on major sale right before boxing day after months of eyeing it online. I refused to pay full price for it and knew it would be marked down just in time for the chilly weather. At first, I was debating between it and this jacket, but opted for this one because the colours felt easier to pair with all the neutrals in my closet. I’ve loved throwing on a bright pink or emerald green scarf for contrast but also appreciate how classy this coat can be when paired with simple basics like a white sweater dress.

Fall for Fall Styles

With the heat wave easing up in the next week or so, I can finally say I’m ready for the cooler temperatures. Something feels wrong being in a tank and shorts while watching leaves fall on the ground and sipping Starbucks out of fall-themed cups. If you’re like, I always like to wait until after NYFW and the September fashion magazines have hit to formally decide what is on my Must-Have list for the fall season.
Here’s what I’m looking to invest in this season: A chunky pair of leopard booties, an oversized sweater with feminine details, ANYTHING with a bow, a structured blazer in a new colour and polished sneakers. Despite being mainly beach towns, I felt so inspired by the women from the French Riviera with their ease of style.
In any event, the Shopbop sale couldn’t have come at a more convenient time. Spend over $500 and receive 25% off, Spend under that amount, and you’ll still score 20% off with code, EOTS17. Find my pick above including great finds under $100!

An Ode to High Rise Jeans

Glasses: c/o Miu Miu | Blouse: Club Monaco | Jeans: Levi’s {also here} | Clutch: c/o Kayu | Shoes: Loeffler Randall | Earrings: c/o White Elephant  {also love these} | Bangle: c/o Julie Vos | Necklace: c/o Brook & York
So I feel like I need to dedicate a post to these jeans (and no – this is definitely not a sponsored post). You know how you always hear girls tell you they think they’ve been buying clothes all wrong for most of their life, and you sort of wonder … how? Yep – I’m officially one of those girls. And my problem area is jeans.
For reference, I’m somewhere between 5’3 and 5’4 (according to my doctor, I’ve been growing over the past few years – random, but true) and have always hovered somewhere between a 26 to a 27 in jeans. With a pear shaped body, getting the fit just right has always been a struggle. All of my favourite brands and styles tend to be mid or low rise but trying to get that J. Crew-esque half tuck is just not flattering for my shape and purchasing belts is a nightmare. I have to know if it’s going to be worn at my natural waist, around my belly button or on my low-rise jeans because there’s never a one size fits all ;)
Reluctant to try, I recently decided to give these Levi’s 501 High Rise skinnies a while in the change room recently. The price point was $88 (before the sale) and I figured if it was something I’d come to hate in a few months or so, at least they weren’t a significant investment. This specific pair has a rise of 11″ which sits just beneath my belly button. I will say the fit is a bit more snug compared to other brands I know and love but I do think this is specific to this style of Levi’s jean. Tucking in shirts now? Easy peasy! Tying a knot at the bottom of my shirt without my stomach showing? You betcha. Pulling off cropped blouses without fearing your jeans aren’t quite high enough? Those days of being ‘unsure’ are long gone. You’re looking at a changed woman!
I wouldn’t call myself a complete convert, I’ll still stick with my low-rise AG and Blank NYC jeans from time to time but the mid to high rise style jean is definitely my new jam. See other styles below I’ve got my eye on next. I already snagged these ;)

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

Belle Bomber

Hat: Club Monaco | Bomber: c/o Dynamite {also loving this} | Blouse: Express {Old, similar here and here} | Jeans: Express | Shoes: Christian Louboutin {Designer Dupe} | Watch: MK | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Bag: Saint Laurent {Designer Dupe}
At first blush, styling a bomber can be an intimidating task. I often associate them with a more casual, boyfriend style which is difficult when you veer towards all thins girly/preppy. I love the idea of pairing it with a bow-tie blouse for a more feminine take on the trend.
!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);
