With everyone switching gears from pastels to autumn tones, I wanted to mix things up with this look and introduce one of my favourite tones – pastel- into a fall scene. This millennial purple coat is such a perfect hue and a great transition from the fan-favourite pink of years past. I used to shy away from Banana Republic‘s pants for years but their revised fits are once again curve friendly! This cropped kick flare pair had me uneasy seeing it on the hanger but have quickly become a regular staple in my weekly work wardrobe!

Dressing for L.A. weather was tricky this past week. The mornings started out brisk and cold but by mid day, we were sweltering. The art of layering seemed to be my best bet for a day around town. With a shopping day on Melrose planned for the books, this was my go-to look for popping around town.

Back at it again this Monday with another inspired workwear look. I’m always mindful about investment pieces when shopping for a look in-store or being careful to select items that have a purpose outside of one specific outfit. This blazer, for example. struck me as item that would pair great with a sleek little white dress, tshirt and jeans, blouse and shorts as well as other combos. I’m also pumped to style this skirt with a striped turtleneck, long cardigan and knee-high boots as we ease into late October/early November. By sourcing additional looks I can put together, it helps increase the cost per wear and ensure that items will have a longer shelf life on my clothing racks. One of my all-time favourite brands for pulling together classic looks is Ann Taylor and I’m just loving their fall collection.

It finally feels like fall and though I’m reluctant, I’m ready for it. So often I get friends telling me that their white/white-ish items have to go back in the closet after Labour Day weekend but I love finding pieces like this one – with fall hued details – that can pair with toppers in darker colours. I also love the idea of this dress paired with a longer cardigan and knee high boots in a rich brown for additional wears. Don’t be afraid to wear your whites, whatever the season!
