Supporting Small Businesses

Last week, I addressed my thoughts on how I feel about consumerism and deeming what is truly considered an essential service during Covid-19. While I can’t stress enough that I am a strong supporter of being fiscally responsible at a time like this, I’m also an advocate for supporting local businesses where you can – and where your budget allows. I’ve had the opportunity over the years to work with some fabulous small businesses and watched many of them grow from a team of one to many, which is so admirable. I’m rounding up some of my personal favourites today!

Loeffler Randall: I’ve watched this brand evolve over the past decade. What started as a small shop, seeing their shoes, bags and accessories now stocked at stores like Club Monaco and Nordstrom is inspiring. The Penny Loafers are a personal favourite as is the

Poppy & Peonies: This local Canadian brand deserves some much needed love. What started out as a small accessories line has now expanded to include luggage, accessories, jewelry and so much more. I adore their feminine, flirty take on handbags and their budget-friendly price points.

Banjanan: I discovered this dress line in late 2019 and have enjoyed watching the bold prints and styles pop up everywhere from stores like Anthropologie to Revolve. Based in India, I also enjoy following the brand on social media to get updates on their new block prints!

Pamela Munson: I have been swooning over this brand’s ultra-feminine and perfectly poised bags for a few years now. Anyone who can weave pearls onto a ribbon strap of a bag is a winner in my books! I had the ULTIMATE pinch-me moment in 2020 when the team reached out and asked if I would be interested in styling an item from their spring collection and recently shared it on the blog!

Julie Vos: This brand is an OG favourite of mine. I can honestly say I wear at least one piece of jewelry from the brand on a daily basis. I am constantly asked about their unique designs, use of stones and I adore how so many of the collections can be mixed and matched.

Sundress: This female led brand is my go-to for all things resort wear. I adore their boho chic approach to everything from flirty coverups to sundresses and more.

Sail to Sable: The ultra preppy designs from Sail to Sable always have me smiling from ear to ear. Whether it’s tassels, pom poms or fun block prints, it’s a feel good brand and items you’ll continue to wear again and again.

Kayu: Another favourite on the blog for years, Kayu designs the most fabulous straw bags. Whether it’s a monogrammed tote, embroidered clutch or a chic crossbody bag, these are bags worth the investment – you’ll have them forever!

While there are so many other brands worth including in this blog, honourable mentions also go to Tuckernuck for the cutest assortment of fashion finds, Loren Hope jewelry designs, Roller Rabbit Designs for the chicest caftans, Lake Pajamas for cozy loungewear and Birdies for the chicest slippers!
