So I feel like I need to dedicate a post to these jeans (and no – this is definitely not a sponsored post). You know how you always hear girls tell you they think they’ve been buying clothes all wrong for most of their life, and you sort of wonder … how? Yep – I’m officially one of those girls. And my problem area is jeans.
For reference, I’m somewhere between 5’3 and 5’4 (according to my doctor, I’ve been growing over the past few years – random, but true) and have always hovered somewhere between a 26 to a 27 in jeans. With a pear shaped body, getting the fit just right has always been a struggle. All of my favourite brands and styles tend to be mid or low rise but trying to get that J. Crew-esque half tuck is just not flattering for my shape and purchasing belts is a nightmare. I have to know if it’s going to be worn at my natural waist, around my belly button or on my low-rise jeans because there’s never a one size fits all ;)
Reluctant to try, I recently decided to give these Levi’s 501 High Rise skinnies a while in the change room recently. The price point was $88 (before the sale) and I figured if it was something I’d come to hate in a few months or so, at least they weren’t a significant investment. This specific pair has a rise of 11″ which sits just beneath my belly button. I will say the fit is a bit more snug compared to other brands I know and love but I do think this is specific to this style of Levi’s jean. Tucking in shirts now? Easy peasy! Tying a knot at the bottom of my shirt without my stomach showing? You betcha. Pulling off cropped blouses without fearing your jeans aren’t quite high enough? Those days of being ‘unsure’ are long gone. You’re looking at a changed woman!
I wouldn’t call myself a complete convert, I’ll still stick with my low-rise AG and Blank NYC jeans from time to time but the mid to high rise style jean is definitely my new jam. See other styles below I’ve got my eye on next. I already snagged these ;)
